Elizabeth Shih Headshot Hello, I’m Elizabeth Shih. I specialize in coaching economic immigrants and internationally educated (second language) academics like you in English as a Second or Additional Language (ESL/EAL). Its four main skill areas are listening, speaking, reading and writing. By enhancing your knowledge of these areas, you can sell your services or products to our broader community; or you can better publish your research and receive promotion, such as by tenure.

Born and raised in Saskatoon (earning my BA from the U of S), I gained a graduate education in English literature and language in Southern Ontario (MA + PhD coursework), before returning to Saskatoon to work as a language coach (ESL/EAL), and as an editor.

Now, I contribute to Saskatoon’s vibrant business and academic communities, by offering a “suite of services” in the English language.

As an ESL coach, I have versatility from gaining 10 years of experience as a professional copywriter, and more than 20 years as an editor, that complement my academic education. I have written and published peer-reviewed articles, book reviews and newsletters in both academic and business journals.

I have also gained teaching experience at two universities in Southern Ontario and through local companies and not-for-profit organizations in Saskatchewan, such as the Praxis School of Entrepreneurship (PSE) and the Truly Alive Youth & Family Foundation, Inc. (TAYFFI).

For the past nearly five years, I have customized classes for students in English grammar, structure, conversation, pronunciation and accent modification (ESL). I coach both online (via Zoom) and in-person.
