Hello, I’m Elizabeth Shih. I specialize in writing stories that chronicle the entrepreneurial journey through which you sell your products or services.
Raised as a small city girl on the wide expanse of the Canadian Prairie, I was encouraged to study mathematics and the sciences. But I quickly found joy in reading literature, biographies and in writing non-fiction.
After gaining intensive degrees in English literature from the Universities of Saskatchewan and Wilfrid Laurier (including several months of research in London, England), I returned to Saskatoon to train as a copywriter, editor, and more recently as a teacher of English as a second language (ESL). I have published peer-reviewed articles, book reviews and newsletters in both academic and business journals. And most recently, I have taught effective classes on English grammar, language use and conversation (ESL).
With contributions from fellow entrepreneurs, I also specialize in exploring, writing and publishing stories about how you as small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)–including those owned by immigrants–find your voices and passion to succeed, through which you give back to our communities.

My overarching vision is for the contributions of newcomer entrepreneurs and SMEs like you to be seen, heard and appreciated. As an entrepreneurial storyteller, I work to bridge the gap that separates entrepreneurs from the rest of the working world; I want the world to better understand and respect how much entrepreneurs, including new immigrant entrepreneurs, truly contribute to our communities.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) tells us that seventy-five percent (75%) of the province’s economy is built on small businesses (with five or fewer staff). That number in fact applies to most provinces in the country. It’s long past due to promote the work of these remarkable small businesses: Why not let me share your story!
While I love reading and professional writing, I also appreciate elements of whimsy and humour along the way. This website reflects a touch of that irreverence and fun. I hope it might inspire your creativity, as you formulate your projects.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me about the stories you want to share, through communications and marketing materials. I’ll be delighted to hear from you.
